University of Wollongong Keeping up with the requirements of the fast-changing in-plant installation in Wollongong NSW is well within the capacity of Quote & Print.

Like most educational institutions, the University of Wollongong is always changing; and so too is its printing centre. When Max Chiodo came on board as general manager, print and distribution services in January 2007 he recognised the potential for further changes to the centre's MIS system. The current version, he believed, was not up to the standard that such an institution required.

After some research, he decided upon Quote & Print. Chiodo is no stranger to the software; he had used it for ten years in his previous job. "It was the best choice for us," he says. "It's a comprehensive MIS system targeted specifically for the printing industry."

Quote & Print has been live at the University of Wollongong's printery since August last year. Chiodo reports that there were no glitches or hiccoughs along the way. "The installation was easy and seamless," he says. "It did not take staff long at all to get the hang of."

As a result, Chiodo notes that the printery has gained a 20 per cent increase in operational efficiencies. "The reasons for this are simple," he says. "Everything is spelt out so you aren't searching to see where things are; it's all in front of you."Chiodo has recently purchased Quote & Print's internet module which he is currently in the process of getting set up. The ability to adjust and add to the software is one of the features he values most from Quote & Print. Simply put, it allows companies to adapt to the ever-changing print landscape. "As you grow, Quote & Print grows with you," Chiodo says. "They move with the technology and the times."

Making the switch to Quote & Print has helped Sydney company, Gopher Graphics & Printing go further with its print work. Managing Director, Ed Jones, installed Quote & Print back in 2006 because he felt that Gopher's previous system was letting the company down in areas of job control and costing.

The word in the industry was that Quote & Print was the superior MIS software, and after some research, Jones decided to go with it. "It is the most widely used software in the printing industry," he says. "It's specialised and known for its good reputation."

The efficiency of both Quote & Print's software and staff meant that the transition was a smooth one for those at Gopher. As the production coordinator of Gopher, Manal Ibrahim is accustomed to using different software; but none have impressed her to the same level as Quote & Print.

"It is very easy to work with - easier than any of the other software I've used," she admits.

More than two years later, Jones has not looked back on the decision. "Our overall organisation has improved thanks to Quote & Print," he says. "It has enabled us to have a record of jobs in progress and progress reports. We now have a better record of work before it is printed."
